Where did the idea come from?
The lightbulb moment came in May of 2020 when Jen, at the time Marketing Manager of Goodwood, was on furlough, trying to keep her mind sharp and providing some welcome and free marketing consultancy to the charity, Dementia Support. As she took Chris, at the time Head of Marketing and Comms at Goodwood and a Trustee of Dementia Support, through her work, the pair quickly agreed upon how enjoyable and rewarding this work was and started exploring the concept of what they then called, their Plan B.
Why did you do it?
We thought there’s no time like the present and were determined to help SME’s see that it’s far from all doom and gloom right now. As part of this will be launching a contest for ambitious SME’s to win our signature, ‘Learn to Fish’ package for free, with 10 runners up also receiving a free hour long coaching session. We’re tired of
the negativity circulating in the business world right now and wanted to prove that even during a pandemic, people shouldn’t be afraid to start a new business or to invest in marketing. People may think we’ve lost our marbles, but we’re determined to prove, through our competition, that there’s never been a more important time to invest for growth, through quality and professional marketing advice.
What makes you special?
As Co-founders, we were clear in our minds that we wanted to focus on applying our marketing knowledge to the benefit of SME’s, to enable those businesses to accelerate their growth. While we had the necessary strategic and tactical experience from careers spanning leisure, hospitality, drinks, perfume and events, we knew there was one missing piece of the puzzle. We only had to look once more within our team to find that missing piece, Jerin. With his incredible digital marketing and content creation skills, the dream team was now complete and ready to go.
What will you do?
The Growth Animals team are committed to continuing to help small businesses and charities going forward and have pledged to provide pro bono support via their Learn to Fish package to at least one different charity per year. Co-founder and CEO Chris, says “It’s important to us that as it’s our own business, our values must shine through in everything we do. We’re ultimately tenacious about helping our clients win, but it’s just as important that in doing so we’re all able to have a bit of fun in the process and, that the success is always achieved with integrity.”
